One day is left before the long-awaited project, the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, is launched. The project is welcomed by professional calligraphers and artists as well as everyone interested in the art of calligraphy, writing culture and traditions.
The official opening ceremony will take place tomorrow, on September 16th.
At present time last-minute preparations are at the exhibition venue, I.E. Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. The majestic halls of the old building located on the University Embankment contain the most valuable exhibit items which demonstrate the evolution of the most ancient art of handwriting, the art of calligraphy.
The exposition includes historic specimens of handwritten texts of various ages, sample calligraphic pieces from across the world, writing and calligraphic utensils,which the Masters use to create their chef-d’oeuvres.
The framework of the exhibition will include master classes and educational lectures with practical seminars on calligraphy.
At present time the Project team is solving the remaining organizational and technical problems. The International Exhibition of Calligraphy promises to be a significant cultural event for the whole country.
The interest of the public and mass media for the Project’s presentation and opening of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy which have been held before prove the exhibition is topical and timely.
